——“线索”用英语怎么说？

Thread本义是线或者线状物、路线，作名词也可以用作一种抽象的含义，指贯穿某件事的部分，比如贯穿思想或对话的一条线，它们好像由thread连接在一起。

If you were distracted by a crash in the kitchen, you might lose the thread of your conversation.

如果你因为厨房里的碰撞而分心，你可能会失去谈话的thread。

Thread还可以指螺钉或螺栓外面凸起的脊状物，当你想要串或让线穿过针时，你也可以把thread用作动词。

The sound distracted me and I lost the thread of (= forgot) what I was saying.

我被那个声音打扰了，忘了刚才在说什么。
